Traditional models of Bloom's Taxonomy present learning as a hierarchical process, but what if we viewed it as circular - an ongoing, interconnected cycle of thinking and discovery? In this interactive seminar, we will explore an alternative approach to Bloom's framework, examining how knowledge acquisition, analysis, and creativity can work together dynamically, rather than as fixed steps.
Building on this discussion, the Gallery Walk strategy will be presented, which is a collaborative learning method that encourages students at almost any grade level to engage with content, share insights, and reflect on each other's viewpoints. Session participants will experience this strategy firsthand, and learn how it promotes deep understandings. . . with the added bonus of movement!
Attendees of this session will gain practical insights into how these two approaches can be integrated into classrooms to foster critical thinking, creativity, and continuous intellectual growth.

Have you ever wondered, "What is an IEP?" or "What do I do with an IEP?"  This session aims to clarify the essential components of an IEP and highlight their significance in guiding instruction, providing necessary supports and services, and ensuring that students with disabilities achieve success in their educational endeavors. Participants are encouraged to bring a redacted copy of an IEP to facilitate the identification of its relevant components.

Programs to support individuals with intellectual disabilities in transitions to adulthood represent more challenges than support for families. Our research shows the limitations of the policies and the needs from the perspectives of family members and caregivers of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

In this session, educators will explore effective strategies for utilizing small group instruction in middle school mathematics to support the diverse needs of all students. Participants will engage in tasks designed to demonstrate how to create dynamic small group environments that foster collaboration, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. We will discuss techniques for grouping students strategically, differentiating instruction, and utilizing formative assessments to guide instruction. By the end of the session, participants will walk away with practical tools and resources to implement small-group strategies that promote equitable learning outcomes and enhance student engagement in mathematics.

A practical exploration of the 13 disability categories under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), from Autism to Traumatic Brain Injury. This session goes beyond definitions, breaking down each eligibility category with observable characteristics that educators, parents, and support teams can recognize in students. 

Early identification of speech and language challenges is crucial for student success in the classroom. This workshop will equip educators with the knowledge and tools to recognize speech and language difficulties that may require further assessment. Participants will learn the key developmental milestones, common red flags, and best practices for collaborating with speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and families.

This session explores innovative, research-based strategies for fostering future-ready skills in early childhood and elementary education. Participants will explore promoting independence, self-advocacy, self-determination, career exploration, and functional skill development to support learners with IEPs to build critical skills for meaningful adult lives.  Through hands-on activities and case studies, educators will gain practical tools to promote future-readiness. Attendees will leave with actionable insights to create dynamic, forward-thinking learning environments and IEPs that prepare students with disabilities for life-long success.
