2025 All Systems Go: A Teaching and Learning Conference

As a math teacher, how many times have you thought, "My students just don't know their basic math facts!"? If your answer was more than one time, join us for this session! During our brief time together, K-5 math teachers will explore how to shift away from an overemphasis on memorization to building true fact fluency through conceptual understanding. Participants will deepen their understanding of the difference between fact fluency and rote memorization and discover how fostering number sense leads to long-term retention and application of basic facts. The session will highlight effective strategies and models—such as number talks, arrays, and decomposition—that promote mathematical reasoning across addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
