Designing Cognitive Complexity with Instructional Depth: Showcasing an Interwoven Approach to Bloom's Taxonomy Through the Gallery Walk Strategy
Tuesday June 24, 2025 9:00am - 9:50am CDT
Traditional models of Bloom's Taxonomy present learning as a hierarchical process, but what if we viewed it as circular - an ongoing, interconnected cycle of thinking and discovery? In this interactive seminar, we will explore an alternative approach to Bloom's framework, examining how knowledge acquisition, analysis, and creativity can work together dynamically, rather than as fixed steps.
Building on this discussion, the Gallery Walk strategy will be presented, which is a collaborative learning method that encourages students at almost any grade level to engage with content, share insights, and reflect on each other's viewpoints. Session participants will experience this strategy firsthand, and learn how it promotes deep understandings. . . with the added bonus of movement!
Attendees of this session will gain practical insights into how these two approaches can be integrated into classrooms to foster critical thinking, creativity, and continuous intellectual growth.

Video Self-Monitoring to Support Reading Fluency and Comprehension
Tuesday June 24, 2025 10:00am - 10:50am CDT
Looking for ways to support students' needs and close the achievement gap,  school districts have developed systems to monitor student academic progress and provide extra support to assess, monitor, and facilitate interventions that can meet the students where they are, and build on their knowledge and facilitate skills development.  Due to the individual needs, and students' learning styles, differentiated learning and strategies should be implemented to facilitate students abilities and support their learning needs. Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), provides guidelines when it comes to monitor interventions and facilitates differentiated support for students.  With more students in need of Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction, the need for strategies that can facilitate learning, minimize distractions, facilitate student engagement, and maximize instructional time are needed to provide that support that students need. With these in mind the following research questions have been developed.

Best Practices for Inclusive Services
Wednesday June 25, 2025 9:00am - 9:50am CDT
Inclusion occurs when students are fully accepted members of their school community. The educational setting is the same as their non-disabled peers, when appropriate, and the role of the general education and special education teacher is clearly understood when discussing specially designed instruction, supplemental aids and services as well as accommodations. Join us as we discuss the philosophy of inclusion that embraces appropriate support for students with disabilities in relation to engagement and progress in the general education classroom. Inclusion exists when students with disabilities are involved in authentic learning tasks that enable them to master the TEKS and make adequate progress in the general education curriculum.

Mathematizing Over Memorizing - The Climb to Fact Fluency in Elementary Mathematics
Thursday June 26, 2025 10:00am - 10:50am CDT
As a math teacher, how many times have you thought, "My students just don't know their basic math facts!"? If your answer was more than one time, join us for this session! During our brief time together, K-5 math teachers will explore how to shift away from an overemphasis on memorization to building true fact fluency through conceptual understanding. Participants will deepen their understanding of the difference between fact fluency and rote memorization and discover how fostering number sense leads to long-term retention and application of basic facts. The session will highlight effective strategies and models—such as number talks, arrays, and decomposition—that promote mathematical reasoning across addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Educators will also analyze common misconceptions about fact fluency and identify ways to adjust instructional practices to build a strong foundation for their students. By the end of the session, teachers will be equipped with practical tools and strategies that empower students to think flexibly and apply their knowledge with confidence.
